Hello all my lovely readers/fans from where ever you come from!
My name is...December Sapphire.
For this Journal I've decided to tell you a little about myself like how I got into writing fanfiction and some other random shit.
So here we go!
What got you into Fanfiction?
It's quite a long story but I'll shorten it. I've always had a very creative mind, daydreaming about scenes in my head daily. I have never heard of Fanfiction until I was in Creative Writing 12 where we had to write a 'one shot' for an assignment. To sum it up, I had no idea what the hell I was doing. It probably wasn't until a few of my favorite fandoms were complete when I started to wonder what happened next. So instead pouting in a dark corner until a spin-off came, I looked up what other people thought would happen, and thus my first meeting with Fanficiton.
What kind of Fanfiction do you like to write?
I am all over the place when I write. My profile on Fanfiction states that I am a twisted writer. I can be all bright and fluffy one minute then dark and dismal the next. Don't expect happily ever afters, sunshine, rainbows and all that other crap in my stories. I write characters who get crushed, despised, and over come obstacles, even death. But don't worry, I do write the odd happy and funny character once in a while.
What's your favorite pairing to write?
I have many! Some of them I don't have an existing story yet. I'm mostly known in the SesshomaruXRin pairing with my stories Diamonds and Legend of the Phoenix. Although, I love writing EragonXhumanSaphira, Klaroline, and my new pairing BellaXEdward.
What is your most popular story?
Right now (April 2014) it's Diamonds. But Know Thy Enemy is slowly creeping up.
Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with?
It really all depends what I am writing. When I start a story, I tend to finish it. But sometimes if I get bored or I don't like how my story is progressing, I won't continue. For me, it feels like I am writing blind when something like that occurs. At that point, I have to delete it.
My most difficulty when writing is the past and present tense. I am the worst person when it comes to it. I get so confused when I edit my work and half the story is in past and the other in present. Ugh! Peez me off!
What is your biggest pet peeve on fanfiction?
People who don't finish a great story.
I come across so many amazing stories that haven't been updated in 3, 4, 5, or almost a decade! Really bugs me that they would just disappear of the radar without at least letting their readers know.
Why do you like writing your favorite pairing?
Okay, I am going to pick SesshomaruXRin for this one since it's my most written pairing.
In the beginning...I hated Sesshomaru. No, loathed him with a passion. I would avoid episodes with him and if I did catch one with him...I would usually just do something else. He's a minor character in the series so I didn't pay attention. Rin was just...there. I guess. At first I only thought of them as Father daughter and paired Sesshomaru with Kagura because well...IDK. Anyways, it wasn't until I discovered fanfiction and when the series ended when I thought what would happen when Rin was older. Then I read a story called Rin's Love by Ink on a Page and instantly fell in love with the pairing.
I just love their relationship now. It's so interesting on what could happen to them in the future. Plus, you never know what Rin will be like when she's older which adds mystery to the element.
Do you read other people's stories? If so, what do you like reading the most?
I am such a picky reader when it comes to stories. When I read novels, I only read Stephen King or fantasy with dragons. Heck, I never even got into Harry Potter! If people ask me if I could read one of their stories for input, then I will but it rarely interests me. It just how my brain functions.
Of course I mostly read SesshomaruXRin. Love post-canon stories on them.
When you write, does anything help? Music? Quiet room?
I get distracted really easily so I need to be alone when I write.
Do you have trouble with constructive criticism?
Nope, actually, I love it! Make me a better writer and helps my grades at school. I am currently studying Creative Writing and constantly get criticism from not only my teachers but from workshops. Plus, my grandmother is a author and has read my work. She always hands me a piece of my work full of red markings and tells me for over an hour what I need to work on.
Even though, I suck at giving constructive criticism, just ask me if you want any and Ill be happy to help!
What inspires you?
Oh god! This question.
For this question...I am going to tell you one of my favorite quotes by a guy named Gene Fowler who says, "Writing is easy. All you do is stare at a blank piece of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead."
To sum it up, all I have to do is stare at a blank piece of paper and BOOM! Instant idea.
What's in your future for fanfiction? Are you planning to write an novel?
I will always have fanfiction in my life. I will never stop. Fanfiction saved my life actually and that is another story. But I'll keep going on it. If I get bored, I'll take a break but I will always come back to it.
I would love to write an novel one day. I am planning to take a novel course in the fall 2014! Maybe in a decade I'll publish. Who knows!
